TikTok automation: what you can automate, and what you shouldn't

Three meshing gears of different sizes standing on a small base, the smallest raised on its own post
The short version

TikTok automation is allowed when it runs through TikTok's own tools or through apps approved for its Content Posting API. Bots that scrape TikTok break its Terms of Service. Bots that fake likes, follows, comments or views break its Community Guidelines, and they can cost you the account.

  • TikTok Studio schedules posts, and approved apps can publish through TikTok's Content Posting API
  • TikTok's Terms of Service forbid extracting data with bots unless TikTok approves it in writing
  • Its Community Guidelines ban fake engagement, and TikTok can restrict or ban accounts that use it
Allowed
Scheduler, approved API apps
Not allowed
Fake engagement, scraping bots
API post cap
Around 15 a day per account
Penalty
Restriction, removal or a ban

What is TikTok automation?

TikTok automation means letting software do part of the work of running an account. Some of it TikTok builds and invites you to use. Some of it breaks TikTok's rules and can cost you the account.

The line is simple to state. Automating how your own work is published and managed is allowed when it runs through TikTok's tools or its approved API. Automating engagement (likes, follows, comments, views), or pulling data out of TikTok with bots, is not.

What TikTok lets you automate

TikTok ships several automation tools of its own. Each one saves time on work you would otherwise repeat by hand.

  • Scheduling: TikTok Studio holds a video and publishes it at the date and time you pick. See how to schedule TikTok posts.
  • Posting from approved apps: through TikTok's Content Posting API, apps you authorize can publish to your account. They can also send a draft to your TikTok inbox for you to finish.
  • Analytics: TikTok Studio gathers your content and its performance in one place, so no tool needs to scrape it.
  • Comment filters: you can hide comments that contain keywords you choose, or hold all comments for your review.
  • LIVE moderation: creators can filter chosen keywords and phrases out of LIVE chat.

If a task is on this list, use TikTok's own version first. It is the version TikTok has built or approved.

Is TikTok automation allowed? What TikTok's rules say

Two documents set the rules: TikTok's Terms of Service and its Community Guidelines.

TikTok's US Terms of Service (the July 2026 version) name bots directly. They forbid scraping, crawling or extracting any data or content from TikTok with any automated system or software, including bots. The one exception is TikTok's written approval.

The Community Guidelines cover engagement in their Integrity and Authenticity section. TikTok does not allow accounts that mislead or try to manipulate the platform. Nor does it allow the trade of services that artificially boost engagement or trick the recommendation system.

That covers selling followers or likes, and even giving instructions on how to fake engagement. A guidelines update in effect from September 13, 2025 added a plain line on automation. TikTok says it strictly prohibits automation tools, scripts or other tricks designed to get around its systems. It says these can lead to content removal or account bans.

Breaking these rules puts your accounts at risk. Whether something is also illegal is a separate question, covered in is phone farming legal.

TikTok automation bots: what they do and why they backfire

A TikTok automation bot is software that acts on an account as if it were a person. The common kinds:

  • Follow and unfollow bots that chase follow backs.
  • Like and comment bots that leave generic praise on other people's videos.
  • View bots that inflate a video's view count.
  • Mass message bots that send the same DM to strangers.
  • Scrapers that copy profiles, videos or comments out of TikTok.

Every one of them falls under the rules above. TikTok says it removes fake likes, followers and other fake engagement it finds.

Its guidelines also let it restrict an account, for example its posting, or its place in search and the For You feed. It may ban the account, and ban new accounts you create.

Even while a bot runs, it works against you. Fake likes and views come from accounts that do not care about your niche. Your analytics then stop telling you what your real audience wants. For the organic route, see how to get more views on TikTok.

How to automate TikTok posting the allowed way

Posting is the part of TikTok work most worth automating, and the part TikTok supports best. A routine that stays inside the rules:

  1. Make the videos yourself, or with people and material you have the rights to use.
  2. Film and edit in batches, a week at a time.
  3. Schedule them in TikTok Studio, or in a tool that posts through TikTok's Content Posting API.
  4. Check that the tool has passed TikTok's audit. Apps that have not can only post privately.
  5. Keep a person on comments and messages. Let the filters catch spam, then reply yourself.
  6. Read your analytics each week and make more of what worked.

Approved apps connect through TikTok, where you authorize the access they get. A tool that asks for your TikTok password instead is not using the official API.

Mind the volume too. TikTok caps the posts apps can publish to one account through the API in 24 hours. It says the cap varies by creator and is typically around 15, shared by every app posting to that account.

Can you automate many TikTok accounts?

Automation is most tempting when you run many accounts. The rules do not change with the number: each account is held to the same terms and guidelines.

TikTok's guidelines allow more than one account. What they target is deception: fake engagement, impersonation, and covert networks of accounts that hide who runs them. TikTok makes the call, and it can limit any account it judges to break them.

Before you add accounts, read can you have multiple TikTok accounts for TikTok's own limits. The gap between posting and faking is also covered in phone farm vs click farm.

Where a phone farm stands

Tiktok Farm builds phone farms that post your own videos to TikTok, Instagram and YouTube on a schedule. Each account runs on its own real iPhone in the official app: one account per phone.

It posts the videos you make. It buys no views, likes or followers, and it does not fake engagement.

It is not a TikTok product. Tiktok Farm is not affiliated with TikTok, and TikTok can limit or remove any account, yours included. Read the terms and guidelines linked above and judge for yourself.

The Farm Software holds the posting calendar for every account and shows every phone on one screen. The setups and prices are on the pricing section.

Questions

Is TikTok automation allowed?

Some of it. TikTok's own scheduler, apps approved for its Content Posting API, and comment filters are built for it. Scraping bots break TikTok's Terms of Service, and bots that fake likes, follows, comments or views break its Community Guidelines.

Can you get banned for using a TikTok bot?

Yes. TikTok's Community Guidelines let it restrict or ban accounts that fake engagement, and ban new accounts you create. TikTok also says it removes fake likes and followers it finds.

How do you automate TikTok posting?

Schedule your own videos in TikTok Studio. Or use a tool that posts through TikTok's official Content Posting API and has passed TikTok's audit. Keep a person on comments and replies.

How many videos can an app post to TikTok per day?

Through the Content Posting API, TikTok caps the posts per account in a 24 hour window. TikTok says the cap varies by creator and is typically around 15, shared by every app posting to that account.

Is a TikTok scraper against the rules?

Yes, unless TikTok approves it in writing. TikTok's US Terms of Service forbid extracting any data or content from TikTok with automated systems or software, including bots.
