Can you have multiple TikTok accounts?

The short version

Yes, you can have multiple TikTok accounts. TikTok's Community Guidelines allow more than one account. None may be used to deceive people or to get around a restriction or ban. Each account needs its own email address or phone number, and you can switch between them inside the app.

  • TikTok links each email address or phone number to only one account.
  • Add an account from your profile: tap your username, then Add account.
  • Breaking the guidelines can cost more than one account: TikTok may ban new accounts you create.

Can you have multiple TikTok accounts?

Yes. TikTok's Community Guidelines say you can have more than one account, for example for fan content or creative expression. What they rule out is using accounts to deceive others or to break the rules.

So the real question is not how many accounts you hold but what each one does. A personal account, a business account and a niche page that each post their own videos are ordinary. Accounts that pose as different people or pump up each other's numbers are not.

A creator may keep a main page and a side project, a brand one account per market, an agency one per client. The app has an account switcher right on the profile page.

How to make multiple TikTok accounts

You add a second account from inside the app, without logging out of the first. The steps are short:

  1. Open TikTok and go to your Profile.
  2. Tap your username at the top of the screen.
  3. Tap Add account.
  4. Choose to sign up, with an email address or phone number that no other TikTok account uses.
  5. Follow the sign up steps and verify the new email or number.

The new account then sits in the same switcher as the first. To add an account you already own, choose to log in instead of signing up.

Menus move between app versions. If Add account is not under your username, look for Switch account in Settings and privacy.

Can you have multiple TikTok accounts with the same email?

No. TikTok's help pages say an email address can be associated with only one TikTok account, and so can a mobile phone number. To open another account you need a different email or number.

Keep a simple list of every account, the email or number behind it, and who can reach that inbox or phone. Losing access to the recovery address is a quick way to lose an account you still want.

How do you switch between multiple TikTok accounts?

Tap your username at the top of your profile and pick the account you want. Each account keeps its own videos, followers and messages.

How many accounts fit in the switcher? TikTok's help pages give no number we could confirm, so check in the app before you plan around one.

Posting to several accounts on set days is its own topic: see how to schedule TikTok posts.

What TikTok's rules say about multiple accounts

The Community Guidelines draw the lines plainly. These are the ones that matter once you hold more than one account:

  • No second account to get around enforcement. If an account is restricted or banned, you may not create or use another account to get around it. That includes a For You feed restriction.
  • No spreading rule breaking content. Using several accounts to spread content that breaks the guidelines is not allowed.
  • No impersonation. An account may not pose as another person, brand or organization to mislead people.
  • No fake engagement or spam. Accounts may not use or trade services that artificially boost likes, follows or views. Nor may they run under false pretenses to push commercial spam.
  • No covert networks. Accounts that hide who runs them in order to sway opinion are not allowed. TikTok calls them covert influence operations.

Breaking these can cost more than one account. The guidelines let TikTok restrict what an account can do, such as posting or appearing in search and the For You feed. TikTok may also ban the account, and ban new accounts you create.

Limits on reach are what people usually call a TikTok shadowban. The common thread in these rules is deception, not the number of accounts. TikTok makes the call, and it can limit or remove any account.

Why people running many accounts keep each one on its own phone

The switcher suits one person moving between a few accounts. Some teams that run many accounts give each one its own phone instead, for practical reasons:

  • Always signed in. Each account stays logged in and ready, with no switching before every post.
  • No posts on the wrong account. With one account per phone, a mistaken tap cannot send a video to the wrong niche.
  • Work in parallel. Ten phones can post, reply and check analytics at the same moment. One phone does it one account after another.
  • One problem stays one problem. If a phone needs a restart or an update, the other accounts carry on.

What a phone per account does not change is the rules. Each account is held to the same guidelines, and automating likes, follows or comments breaks them on one phone or a hundred. See TikTok automation for what you can and cannot automate.

Running many TikTok accounts with Tiktok Farm

Tiktok Farm builds that setup for you. Real iPhones, each running the official TikTok app, one account per phone, sit in custom hardware we build. The Farm Software on your computer runs them.

The software puts every phone on one screen, with your accounts, a warm-up for new ones, a posting calendar, analytics and alerts. It posts your own videos on a schedule. It buys no views, likes or followers, and Tiktok Farm is not affiliated with TikTok.

The Limited Station holds 10 phones for $10,000. The Big Farm has 20 to 120 phone slots, from $20,000. Both need the Farm Software license, at $5,000 a year. You bring the iPhones, a computer and Wi-Fi. TikTok can still limit or remove any account, so the guidelines above apply to every one of them.

Questions

How many TikTok accounts can you have?

TikTok's help pages set no total that we could find. Each account needs its own email address or phone number, and the Community Guidelines apply to every one.

Can I have two TikTok accounts with the same phone number?

No. TikTok associates a mobile phone number with only one account, and the same goes for an email address. Use a different number or email for each account.

Is it against TikTok's rules to have multiple accounts?

No. The Community Guidelines allow more than one account. They forbid using accounts to deceive people, spread content that breaks the rules, or fake engagement.

Can I make a new TikTok account if mine was banned?

No. TikTok's guidelines say that if your account is restricted or banned, you may not create or use another account to get around it. TikTok may also ban new accounts you create. Appeal the decision on the original account instead.
