How much does a phone farm cost?
Phone farm cost adds up from six lines: the phones, the hardware, a computer, software, setup and running costs. The total depends on how many phones you run, and whether they are bare Android boards or real iPhones. One real example: Tiktok Farm's Limited Station is $10,000 for 10 phones, plus a $5,000 a year software license. Your iPhones and computer come on top.
- One phone per account, so the phone count sets the size of every other line
- Software is easy to miss: expect a yearly license or a monthly subscription
- Power, space, internet and someone's time are monthly costs that add up over a year

Phone farm cost breakdown: every line item
A phone farm is more than a pile of phones. To price one honestly, list every line, including the ones that never show up on a receipt. If the idea is new to you, start with what a phone farm is.
| Line item | What it covers | When you pay |
|---|---|---|
| The phones | One phone for each account | Once, plus replacements |
| Hardware | What holds, powers and cools the phones, and the cabling | Once |
| A computer | Runs the farm's software | Once, or zero if you own one |
| Software | Accounts, scheduling, analytics, alerts | Usually yearly or monthly |
| Setup | Assembly, installation, account warm-up | Once |
| Running costs | Power, space, internet, someone's time | Every month |
The first five lines are what most people mean by a phone farm price. The sixth keeps arriving every month.
How many phones does a phone farm need?
Every account needs its own phone, so the phone count sets the size of everything else. Ten accounts means ten phones. A hundred accounts means a hundred phones.
New, refurbished and used phones all work for posting, at very different prices.
Older phones cost less, but they may stop getting app updates sooner. That shortens their working life, so a cheap phone is not always the cheaper choice.
Plan for replacements. A phone that breaks or ages out is a new purchase, so set aside part of each year's budget. Whole phones can also be resold when you scale down or upgrade.
Phone farm box price: what the sticker leaves out
A phone farm box is a case of bare Android phone boards, sold as one unit. The box phone farm price varies with the board count and the seller. We quote no figures here, because listings change and we cannot verify them.
The sticker is rarely the full cost. Before you buy, ask what else the box needs before it posts anything:
- Software to manage the accounts, which may be a separate subscription
- A computer to run that software
- Time to set up, update and repair boards when they fail
- Whether the apps you need run well on the boards' system
Boxes are usually cheaper up front. Real iPhones running the official apps cost more at the start, and change the trade-offs on apps, upkeep and resale. The full comparison is in phone farm box vs an iPhone phone farm.
Hardware, computer and software: the costs after the phones
Hardware. Phones packed close together need something to hold them, keep them powered and keep them cool. Heat wears out batteries: Apple warns that high heat can permanently damage battery capacity.
You can build this yourself from shelves, cables and fans, or buy it built. Building costs less money and more time.
A computer. The farm's software runs on a computer. If you already own one, this line can be zero.
Software. This line is easy to miss. Many accounts mean scheduling posts, tracking each account, and knowing when something breaks. Expect a yearly license or a monthly subscription, and check whether it is priced per phone or per setup.
Setup. Someone has to assemble the farm and sign in the accounts. Some setups add a warm-up, when a new account watches its niche before it posts. Plan for days, not hours.
What are the running costs of a phone farm?
Running costs arrive every month, so they matter more than they look. Four lines cover most of them:
- Power. The phones, the fans and the computer all draw power. Price it at your own electricity rate.
- Space. A small farm fits on a shelf. A large one needs a room with airflow, steady power and a lock.
- Internet. Every phone uploads video, so plan for a steady connection.
- Time. Someone checks the farm, replaces what fails and plans the posting. Over a year, this can be the largest running cost.
The videos are a cost too. They have to be filmed, edited or licensed, and a farm posts many of them.
Phone farm for sale: buy it built, build it yourself, or rent?
A phone farm for sale usually comes in one of three forms. There is also a fourth path: building one yourself.
- Boxes of Android boards. Lower cost up front. You supply the software choices, the know-how and the repairs.
- Built iPhone setups. The hardware comes built, and you bring the iPhones.
- Cloud phones. Rented, with nothing to own, and the phones are never in your hands.
- Build it yourself. The lowest cash cost and the highest time cost.
Before you buy a phone farm, ask three questions. What is included? Which fees come back every year? Who fixes it when a part fails?
A worked example: what a phone farm costs with Tiktok Farm
Our own prices make a concrete example. We build phone farms for iPhones: real iPhones running the official apps, one account per phone, in hardware we build. You own the hardware.
| Item | Price | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| Limited Station | $10,000 | 10 phones, for solo and indie developers |
| Big Farm | From $20,000 | 20 to 120 phone slots, on a volume discount |
| Farm Software license | $5,000 a year | Needed to run a setup |
| Installation at your site | +$20,000 | Optional; the video guide is included |
You bring the iPhones, a computer (a Mac mini, or any Mac, Windows or Linux computer) and a Wi-Fi network. We build everything that connects them.
Setup follows the included video guide, or our team installs it at your site. New accounts then warm up for about 7 days before they post.
So a Limited Station's first year is $15,000 for the station and the license, before your iPhones and computer. With installation at your site, it is $35,000. From the second year, the fixed cost is the license, $5,000 a year, plus your running costs.
Every price is on pricing, and the steps from order to first post are on setup.
Is a phone farm worth the cost?
It depends on what the alternatives cost you: paid ads, or people posting by hand.
Ads stop when the budget stops. Posts on your own accounts can keep being found, but nothing promises they will be. The trade-off is in organic reach vs paid ads.
Buying views is not a cheaper shortcut. TikTok, Instagram and YouTube all forbid fake engagement. In the US, a 2024 FTC rule also bans buying fake followers or views for a commercial purpose. The wider rules are in is phone farming legal?.
A farm can be worth it when you have videos to post and accounts worth growing. No setup can promise views, reach or that an account will last. Every platform can limit or remove any account.
