Box phone farm vs iPhone phone farm: which to build
A box phone farm is one case packed with bare Android phone boards, often running a modified system. An iPhone phone farm uses whole, real iPhones: each account runs in the official app on its own iPhone. The box costs less up front. The iPhones cost more, and each one is still a working phone when you stop.
- Fraud Blocker found 20 to more than 40 boards per box in Vietnam in 2026, taken from secondhand phones.
- The same reporting found box farms boosting views and likes and running ad fraud.
- Apple committed in 2024 to at least five years of security updates for newer iPhones.

What is a box phone farm?
A box phone farm is a whole farm in one case. It is also sold as a phone farm box or a phone farming box. Instead of whole phones, it holds their bare boards.
Fraud Blocker, a company that tracks click fraud, visited box farms in Vietnam in 2026. It found phones stripped of their screens, casings and batteries.
The bare boards were stacked inside a server chassis or a clear acrylic box. One unit held anywhere from 20 to more than 40 boards, cooled by heavy fans.
The phones were older or broken handsets, bought cheaply online or from middlemen. Fraud Blocker also describes operators modifying the system on each phone.
The appeal is density and price. Many boards fit in a small space, and each one costs little.
What is an iPhone phone farm?
An iPhone phone farm, or iPhone farm, uses whole, real iPhones. Each phone keeps its screen and battery and uses the official apps from the App Store.
Usually each phone holds one account, so each account runs in the official app on its own real iPhone. The phones stand in a dock or a rack, with cooling and cabling. Software on a computer runs the fleet.

Why the official apps matter
TikTok, Instagram and YouTube build features such as editing, sounds and captions into their own apps. On an iPhone farm, each account runs in the official app on its own real iPhone.
Whatever the hardware, each platform's terms apply to what the farm does. Instagram's Terms of Use, for example, bar creating accounts or collecting information in an automated way without Instagram's permission.
No hardware makes fake engagement acceptable. TikTok's Integrity and Authenticity guidelines and YouTube's fake engagement policy both ban it. Our phone farm vs click farm post explains where the line sits.
Upkeep: heat, batteries and updates
Phones that work all day get warm, and heat wears them out. Box farms remove the batteries and rely on heavy fans.
Whole iPhones keep their batteries, so the room and the cooling matter. Apple says iPhones are most comfortable at 16 to 22 °C (62 to 72 °F).
Apple also warns that ambient heat above 35 °C (95 °F) can permanently damage battery capacity. A cool, steady room protects the phones.
Updates are the other half of upkeep. Apple's 2024 UK filing commits to at least five years of security updates for iPhones released since September 2023.
Boards pulled from older secondhand phones may already be past their maker's update window.
Which costs more: a phone farm box or iPhones?
An iPhone farm costs more up front. That is the honest trade-off.
A box is built from secondhand phones bought cheaply. An iPhone farm needs a whole iPhone for every account, plus the hardware that holds and cools them.
What the extra buys: phones on the official apps that keep getting security updates. When a project ends, they remain usable or resellable as phones.

Box or iPhone farm: which should you build?
Start from the job, not the hardware. Answer these questions first.
- What will the phones do? If the answer is fake views, likes or follows, build nothing: the platforms ban it.
- Which apps must run? To post to TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, the official apps on real phones are the plainest path.
- How long will you run it? Over years, security updates and the phones' later value count for more than the day one price.
- Where will it live? A box is dense and needs heavy fans; whole phones need more room and steady cooling.
- Who will look after it? On either kind, someone has to check the phones and replace what fails.
If you post your own videos every day and plan to run for years, these questions favor whole iPhones. For the wider picture, start with what is a phone farm?.
Where Tiktok Farm fits
Tiktok Farm builds iPhone phone farms, never boxes. Each phone is a real iPhone running the official apps, with one account per phone.
We build the hardware that holds them: the dock or the racks, the cooling, the cabling. The Farm Software on your computer warms up new accounts for about 7 days. Then it posts your own videos on a schedule.
Setups start with the Limited Station: 10 phones for $10,000, plus the Farm Software license at $5,000 a year. Every price is in how much does a phone farm cost?.
You bring the computer, the iPhones and a Wi-Fi network, and you own the hardware. It buys no views, likes or followers, and any platform can still limit or remove any account. See the hardware and the setup.
What is a phone farming box?
A phone farming box is a case holding many bare Android phone boards, with their screens and batteries removed. Fraud Blocker found 20 to more than 40 boards per box in 2026, often running a modified system.
Can you put iPhones in a phone farm box?
Phone farm boxes are built around bare Android boards. An iPhone farm keeps each iPhone whole, with its screen and battery, standing in a dock or a rack.
Is a box phone farm illegal?
Owning one is generally legal. Using it to fake engagement breaks the platforms' rules. In the US, it can also break the FTC's 2024 rule on fake social media indicators. This is not legal advice.
Is an iPhone farm worth the higher cost?
It depends on the job and how long you run it. Whole iPhones run the official apps, newer ones get security updates for years, and they stay usable as phones. A box costs less on day one.
How many accounts go on each phone in an iPhone farm?
The usual setup is one account per phone. Each account then runs in the official app on its own real iPhone.
